Rose Quartz and Serenity - 2016 Pantone Colors of the Year; How Both Men & Women Can Pull Them Off!

As we look forward to an exciting new year, we can also look forward to new color trends thanks to the Pantone Institute, the world-renowned authority on color.  According to them the new colors to enjoy in 2016 are Rose Quartz and Serenity.  These colors weren’t picked because they will be the “it” colors used by designers or in clothing. Rather, this color combination was picked by experts as a well-thought out prediction of the mood for 2016.  Together Rose Quartz and Serenity are meant to display traits such as balance, calmness, wellness, duality and tranquility.  One way to bring these positive color traits into your home is through your wardrobe. Today we'll be exploring just how you can incorporate a little or a lot of each color into your closet. 

Rose Quartz  

Rose Quartz is known as a soft and feminine color that is often associated with women. But it is also a color that works for men too.

For women it's easy to wear Rose Quartz all year round. During the winter wear this color on a wool coat or a fuzzy sweater. You can also bring it into your winter wardrobe as an accessory by wearing it on a beanie or a scarf. When spring comes around change-up your style with a Rose Quartz colored dress and blouse. Now Serenity is a color that both genders can enjoy throughout the year.  For women, this light shade of blue works well on everything from coats to turtle-neck sweaters during winter time. It is also a color you'll love to wear during spring as a pretty skirt or wedge sandals. For a more subtle look, choose from jewelry or even nail polish in this shade of calming blue.

Men can update their wardrobe for winter by picking long sleeve tops and scarves in this frosty blue color. During spring try incorporating this color into an outfit with a cardigan or linen blazer.  You can also add a pop of blue to a spring look with oxford shoes or casual sneakers in Serenity.  Accessories such as watches and belts accented with this color are always a great choice.

Complementary colors are colors that bring out the best in each other. The Pantone Institute has already proved several examples of what colors works well with Rose Quartz and Serenity. For men and women who love to wear darker hues you can easily pair Rose Quartz and Serenity with burgundy, navy blue, forest green, purple and dark grey. For those who adore wearing lighter hues, colors like sky blue, creamy purple, opal grey and white complement Rose Quartz and Serenity.  Metallic gold and silver also work well with these two pastel colors.
